Hope McNamara Sear teaches singers, actors and professional voice users of all levels and abilities. She is an Estill Master Trainer, Vocal Health First Aider and Vinyasa Yoga Teacher.

Based in Oxfordshire, she is the singing teacher for the Cathedral Choristers at Christ Church and the Vocal Coach/Music Director for Stepping Stone Performing Arts. She also a singing tutor at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London.

Originally from Canada, Hope's love for singing and music blossomed during her time at St Mary's Choir and Orchestra school. She later completed her degree in Music (specialising in classical voice performance) at the University of Western Ontario.

 

Hope began her professional stage career at the age of 17, playing the role of Young Belle in A Christmas Carol at The Grand Theatre in London, Ontario. She then went on to act, sing and dance on many stages in Ontario including Huron Country Playhouse, Drayton Festival Theatre, The Jane Mallet Theatre - Toronto, The Second City - Toronto and at Canada's Wonderland.

After graduating from the Musical Theatre course at the Royal Academy of Music in 2001, she worked onstage (in Canada, the UK and at sea) and then further broadened her acting experience by training in Meisner at The Actor's Temple.

​

Whilst living in London, Hope played the role of Young Heidi in Follies at the Landor Theatre and sang backing vocals onstage and off in the 2004 Royal Variety Show. She also features as part of the chorus in the film version of The Magic Flute, directed by Kenneth Branagh.

 

In Oxford, Hope works regularly with Nia Williams, performing in and workshopping her new musical theatre work.
